Washington Gas will be doing an in-line inspection of the pipe lines in the right-of-way under the power lines between I-495 and the Lafayette Village Community. They will be using a robotic tool to provide imagery from inside the pipe to ensure it is operating optimally and will be doing construction work where necessary.
This project should not affect the natural gas service to your home and will take four to five weeks, depending on the weather. The work will occur Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm and crews could be arriving as early as this Monday, June 10th.
If you live near the construction area, you may hear construction noise during work hours and can expect to see Washington Gas and other contractors’ vehicles and equipment. For your own safety, do not enter the construction area, nor approach the vehicles and equipment.
Construction vehicles will access the construction area from Colonial Village Way, then through the grassy area behind Trammell Court. Residents who live on Colonial Village Way do not need to move their vehicles for this work. Washington Gas plans to restore any affect areas to an as-found condition within 45 days of work being completed.
If you would like more information on the project, please see the attached two page document.
